BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 9. Iran imported 17,200 tons of goods worth $23.5 million from African countries, during the first 4 months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through July 22, 2023), Deputy Chairman of the Iranian-African Businessmen's Club Rouhollah Latifi said, Trend reports.

According to Latifi, Iran imported goods from 18 out of 54 countries of the African continent within four months.

The official added that Iran mainly imported goods worth $9 million from the Republic of South Africa, worth $3.4 million from Kenya, worth $2.7 million from Tanzania, worth $2.4 million from Ghana, worth $1.8 million from Congo, and worth $1.2 million from Uganda.

Iran mainly imported food products, including fruit juices, coffee, tea, wheat, etc. worth approximately $11.1 million, manganese worth $3.5 million, and rubber materials and car spare parts worth $3.3 million from African countries.

Iran imported about 92,900 tons of goods worth $95.3 million from African countries over the last Iranian year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023).

Overall, Iran imported 11.8 million tons of goods worth $19.5 billion within the first 4 months of the current Iranian year. This is an increase of 10.8 percent in value and 6.18 percent in volume compared to the same period last year.
