BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 5. The mineral reserves of mines in Iran’s Hormozgan Province increased by 160 percent, during the first 5 months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through August 22, 2023), compared to the same period last year, Chairman of Industry, Mine and Trade Organization of Hormozgan Province, Khalil Ghasemi said, Trend reports.
According to Ghasemi, the mineral reserves of mines in Hormozgan Province increased by about 39 million tons in 5 months.
The chairman added that 26 licenses on mining exploration were issued in the province within 5 months. This is 225 percent more than the same period last year.
“Last year (March 21, 2022 through March 20, 2023), mines with 74 million tons of mineral reserves were discovered in the province. In total, 49 billion rials (about $1.17 million) was spent on the discovery of these mines,” he said.
There are currently 300 active mines operating in Iran's Hormozgan Province. The province's mines have 21 types of minerals, such as iron ore, gypsum, dolomite, chromite, manganese, etc.
Reportedly, there are more than 50 billion tons of mineral reserves in Iran. On average, it produces more than 400 million tons of minerals per year.
