BAKU, Azerbaijan, November 28. Iran’s Khuzestan Province in the south-west of the country has increased its non-oil exports by 16.8 percent in volume, reaching 13.2 million tons, in the first eight months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through November, 2023), Customs Inspector of Khuzestan Province Behrouz Gharabeigi said, Trend reports.
Gharabeigi added that the value of the province’s non-oil exports dropped by 21.3 percent compared with the same period last Iranian year and reached $3.7 billion.
“Meanwhile, in the same period last Iranian year, the province’s non-oil exports stood at 11.3 million tons worth $4.7 billion” he said.
The official also mentioned that the main export items were petrochemical products, agricultural and food products, electronic supplies, construction materials, etc.
According to him, these products were mainly exported to the UAE, Iraq, China, Türkiye, Russia.
Overall, Iran exported 90 million tons of non-oil products worth over $32 billion in the first 8 months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through November 21, 2023). This is an increase of 1.6 percent in value and 27 percent in volume compared to the same period last year.
Iran’s non-oil exports do not include crude oil, mazut, and white oil, which are subject to US sanctions that prevent Iran from exporting them freely. Iran has been focusing on increasing its non-oil exports to cope with the economic pressure.
