BAKU, Azerbaijan, December 3. Around 2.97 million tons of goods worth approximately 285 trillion rials (about $6.78 billion) were sold at the Iran Mercantile Exchange (IME) during the last Iranian week (Nov. 25 through Nov. 30, 2023), Trend reports.
According to the data from IME, sales fell by 5 percent in value and 1.7 percent in volume compared to the previous week (Nov. 18 through Nov. 23, 2023).
In the previous week, 3.02 million tons of goods and 57 pick-up trucks worth 300 trillion rials (about $7.14 billion) were sold at the Iran Mercantile Exchange.
Last week, 2.4 million tons of various goods worth 173 trillion (about $4.12 billion) were sold in the industrial and mining products section of the IME.
The main products sold in this section included cement, iron ore, steel, sponge iron, lead, aluminum, copper, cast iron, molybdenum concentrate, etc.
Also, 548,000 tons of various oil and petrochemical products worth 98.2 trillion rials (about $2.34 billion) were sold in the oil and petrochemical products section of IME.
The main products sold in this section were bitumen, vacuum bottom, polymer materials, chemicals, lube cut, base oil, petroleum products, sulfur, gas, etc.
Furthermore, 11,700 tons of various products worth approximately 3.22 trillion rials (about $76.6 million) were sold in the sub-market section of the exchange for the last week.
Iran Mercantile Exchange (IME) is a market that sets prices for various products. The products’ prices depend on how much buyers and sellers want them. The IME sells strategically important products in bulk, and the Exchange and Securities Organization of Iran supports this.
