BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 3. Iran’s Razavi Khorasan Province, located in the north-east of the country, saw a growth in imports in the first nine months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through December 21, 2023), Chairman of Industry, Mine and Trade Organization of Razavi Khorasan Province Amir Reza Rajabi said, Trend reports.
Rajabi noted that the value and volume of the province’s imports increased by 9 percent and 13 percent, respectively, compared to the same period last year.
The official said that 182,000 tons of goods worth $523 million were imported to the province in nine months.
The chairman added that the main imported goods were mobile phones, cotton, rice, gold, beans, etc.
According to him, the mentioned goods were mainly imported from the UAE, Uzbekistan, the Netherlands, Tajikistan, China, and others.
The IRICA's latest data shows that Iran’s overall imports stood at 28.7 million tons, worth $48.4 billion, in the first nine months of the current Iranian year, representing a 12.3 percent increase in value and a 7 percent increase in volume compared to the same period last year.
In general, Iran mainly focuses on the import of essential products needed by the country and applies certain restrictions on the import of goods produced domestically.
