BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 5. Iran imported 16,300 tons of goods worth 39.6 million from Azerbaijan during the first 10 months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2023 through January 20, 2024), Trend reports.
Data from the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) shows that this is an increase of 36.4 percent in value and a decrease of 4.2 percent in volume compared to the same period of the previous Iranian year.
So, Iran’s imports from Azerbaijan stood at 17,000 tons worth $29 million in the corresponding period last year.
The main imported goods were equipment, compressed soybeans, and various profiles.
In the 10th month alone (December 22, 2023 through January 20, 2024), Iran imported 574 tons of goods worth $1.14 million from Azerbaijan.
The IRICA's latest data shows that Iran’s overall imports stood at 32.7 million tons, worth $54.3 billion, in the first 10 months of the current Iranian year, representing an 11.6 percent increase in value and a 6 percent increase in volume year-on-year.
In general, Iran mainly focuses on the import of essential products needed by the country and applies certain restrictions on the import of goods produced domestically.
