BAKU, Azerbaijan, February 13. Iran’s non-oil imports from Uzbekistan rose by 65.9 percent in value and 136 percent in volume, during the first ten months of the current Iranian year (March 21, 2023 through January 20, 2024), compared to the same period last year, Trend reports.
In 10 months, Iran imported 66,200 tons of goods from Uzbekistan worth approximately $99.4 million, as stated in the data of the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA).
Meanwhile, in the same period last Iranian year, Iran's imports from Uzbekistan stood at about 28,000 tons, worth approximately $59.9 million.
During the 10th month alone (December 22, 2023 through January 20, 2024), Iran imported around 14,800 tons of goods, valued at $20.2 million from Uzbekistan.
Iran mainly imported cotton, beans, silk, ammonium nitrate, etc. from Uzbekistan during the reporting period.
The IRICA's latest data shows that Iran’s overall imports stood at 32.7 million tons, worth $54.3 billion, in the first 10 months of the current Iranian year, representing an 11.6 percent increase in value and a 6 percent increase in volume year-on-year.
In general, Iran mainly focuses on the import of essential products needed by the country and applies certain restrictions on the import of goods produced domestically.
