90% of the public budget is provided at expense of Baku, Sattar Safarov, the head of the Milli Majlis (Parliament) standing commission on economic policy, said. According to Safarov, the regions of the country have big potential, but they should be stimulated to reveal their entire potential.
Stimulating of the regional production, particularly, in the mountainous and frontier regions, requires financial impact on development of the local infrastructure.
He also mentioned decrease of oil dependence of the public budget over last years. If in 1996 60% of the public budget depended on oil prices, nowadays the figure decreased to 32%. The deputy also noted that amount of the foreign investments in Azerbaijan over last 6-7 months comprised $2.1 billion.
