The Asian Development Bank (ADB) will complete the assessment of the poverty level in Azerbaijan after a month, Trend reports with reference to the ADB Baku office. ADB holds the review of poverty in all ADB member-countries.
The bank has already held similar reviews in private sector, state management system and energy sector of Azerbaijan.
Eshim Elkhan-Kayalar, the chief specialist of ADB, visited Baku to assess the poverty. Such kind of assessment is first forwarded to ADB specialists for the preparation of report of ADB. The main activity strategy in the country includes to reduce the level of poverty. During the preparation of a new strategy, the bank will follow this report.
According to 2005, 29% of population lives at poverty level.
