CASPAR provides vessels with second board

Rosprirodnadzor objects using single-hull tankers at oil and oil products transportation in Caspian Sea, reportedly said Oleg Mitvol, deputy chairman of said organization.

Mitvol said oil transportation in single-hull tankers is a real threat to Caspian Sea ecosystemВ".

Officials of Caspian Marine Lines of Azerbaijan told Trend the company is currently upgrading its tankers and equipping them with second board as CASPAR is the main oil carriers in Caspian Sea.

At the moment, CASPAR is upgrading 12,334ton tanker General Aslanov providing it with second board.

Azeri maritime company already installed second board at Shamkhor of similar design and is going to perform similar operations at third tanker of the kind, Gafur Mamedov.

In 2009, oil transportation will be forbidden for 7k ton vessels with single board. CASPAR today operates 9 vessels of the kind.

New tankers built in Russia at CASPARs order are provided with second board at construction. CASPAR already received two 8k ton and three 13k ton vessels.
