(autoinsidernews) - A leaked copy of Toyota Motor Corp.'s global master plan calls for the automaker to grab 14 percent of the world car market by 2010, according to The Detroit Free Press. Toyota did not comment on the report, but confirmed that the automaker is expecting surging demand in places like China and India to fuel rapid expansion.

With the North American sales juggernaut that Toyota has been on over the last few year, his type of news is unlikely to come as a surprise to many people. It is no secret the Toyota has been targeting the No. 1 position. Just last month, Toyota announced plans to boost global sales to 9.8 million vehicles in 2008. General Motors only sold 9.2 million vehicles worldwide in 2005, reports Trend.

Continued growth is expected in North America and Europe, but will also focus on developing countries like China, Russia, India and Brazil.
