GM to invest over $200m for 2008 Malibu assembly plant

(autoinsidernews) - Earlier today, General Motors announced that it is investing $208 million in the Fairfax Assembly plant. The investment will prepare the plant for production of the all-new 2008 Chevrolet Malibu.

The investment will cover an expansion of the plant's body shop, and the purchase of equipment needed for the new Malibu, reports Trend.

The Fairfax plant currently builds the Malibu, Malibu MAXX and Saturn Aura, with a Hybrid Saturn Aura scheduled for release in early 2007. Production of the 2008 Malibu will start in the second half of the year, with sales beginning in the fourth quarter of 2007.
