Pontiac adds GXP G6 and Torrent models

(autoinsidenews) - Pontiac announced two new GXP models вЂ" 2008 Torrent GXP and 2008 G6 GXP вЂ" for the 2008 model year at the North American International Auto Show.

Originally unveiled as a concept at the 2006 New York Auto Show, the 2008 G6 GXP will be available in both sedan and coupe versions. The G6 GXP will be powered by a 3.6L V6 VVT engine developing 252-hp mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. Other features of the 2008 G6 GXP include a performance-tuned suspension, 18-inch wheels, and GXP-unique exterior, including revised front and rear fascias and hood, and interior details, reports Trend.

The 2008 Torrent GXP is powered by a 263-hp version of the 3.6L V6 engine mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. The higher output engine will take the high performance crossover to 60 mph in just 6.9 seconds. The Torrent GXP features a lowered suspension, 18-inch wheels, and unique exterior design, including a sculpted hood, a revised front fascia with cooling inlets and detailed, deep-set grille inserts. The Torrent GXP will be offered in front-wheel and all-wheel drive versions.

The 2008 Torrent GXP and the G6 GXP models are scheduled to arrive at dealerships in the fall of 2007.
