Newly-Appointed UNDP Regional Director to Visit Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku /corr. Trend I.Khalilova / According to the information provided by the UN Baku Office, Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations, Assistant Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Director of UNDP's Regional Bureau for Europe and the CIS Ms. Kori Udovicki will be paying an official visit to Azerbaijan on 1-4 March 2007 at the invitation of the Azerbaijani Government. It will be Ms. Udovicki's first trip to Azerbaijan and one of her first official foreign missions in her new capacity as UNDP Regional Director since she assumed her current responsibilities as of 1 February 2007.

During her mission, Ms. Udovicki is expected to meet with senior Government representatives to discuss ways on how best to strengthen UNDP's support to Azerbaijan in the future by supporting the Government's efforts to convert "black gold into human gold" and to achieve the Millennium Development Goals in the country.

Ms. Udovicki brings to UNDP an extensive work experience from the non-governmental sector, government institutions, and from the International Monetary Fund. She has held several senior management positions in the Government of the Republic of Serbia including those of the Governor of the National Bank of Serbia, Minister of Energy and Mines and Special Adviser to the Minister of Finance and Economy.
