Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend , corr I.Khalilova / The World Bank has extended the implementation of the project Culture Heritage in Azerbaijan until 30 June 2007.
On 6 March the WB Baku Office stated that the key object of the project is to increase awareness of the Azerbaijani culture and promote national individuality and social equality. The project includes two major components. The first component includes providing support for the maintenance and partial rehabilitation of 4 sightseeing sites in Azerbaijan, Shirvanshahs Palace in Baku, Khanate Palace in Sheki, Karabaglar Mauselum and Mominakhatun Mausoleum in Nakhchivan. The second component is directed at improving agencies who are involved in the protection and rehabilitation of historic monuments. in Sheki, Karabaglar Mauselum and Mominakhatun Mausoleum in Nakhchivan. The total budget of the project is $8.9mln, including $7.5mln of the WB loan.
