Azerbaijan, Baku /corr. Trend U.Ismaylova / The Union of Consumers of Azerbaijan appealed to the Government for improvement of the Law on Foodstuffs, stated the Chairman of the Union, Eyyub Huseynov.
The Law on Foodstuffs was adopted on the 18th of November 1999 and amendments were made to the Law on the 19th of September 1995 to bring the national legislation into conformity with international norms.
Since the adoption of the law, the Azerbaijani economy and foodstuffs Market have significantly developed and it requires amendments to the law.
The Union sent proposals on amendments to relevant State bodies.
Huseynov stated that whilst in preparation of the Law, experiences were used from the World Food Organization, UN Food Security Commission and European Union.
