Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr S. Babayeva / The Azerbaijani State Veterinary Service has examined pig-breeding farms in the Azerbaijani frontier regions in order to detect the African Plague.

According to the State Service, the examinations were held on the basis of 79 blood samples which revealed the absence of the virus. Taking into consideration the possible threat in the spread of the disease amongst wild and domestic pigs, the State Service is holding migration controls of wild animals including wild boar through the borders.

Due to an outbreak of African Plague in the country, a ban has been imposed on 7 June to import pork from Georgia. The State Service is working on medium security in order to prevent the intrusion of the virus to Azerbaijan. All vehicle transport from Georgia will undergo disinfection treatment at the border.
