Georgia, Tbilisi / Trend corr. N.Kirtskhalia / Giorgi Nanobashvili, the head of the Georgian Department of Economic Policy at the Ministry of Economy, stated on 10 August, that Azerbaijani investments in Georgia have increased.
Earlier, Azerbaijan took eighth place among investor countries due to the volume of investments. Today, Azerbaijan takes fifth place, immediately after the USA.
According to Nanobashvili, of $286mln invested in Georgia, $12.8mln was invested by Azerbaijan.
Nanobashvili said that Azerbaijan was the main export-partner of Georgia. Azerbaijan is exporting commodities in the amount of $41.5mln. Azerbaijan takes third place among the biggest importer countries to Georgia. In 2007, Azerbaijan imported goods in the amount of $90mln.
Experts state that the implementation of regional projects promotes the development of relations between Azerbaijan and Georgia, particularly, in the energy and transport sector.
