Baku Modular Power Station Produces 574mln KW/hour

Azerbaijan, Baku, 3 March / Trend corr S. Aliyev/ Within a year, since the Baku modular electric power station with the capacity of 104 MW was launched in February 2007, it has produced 574mln KW/hour of power, the Azerenerji JSC reported.

Due to cold weather during the autumn-winter of 2007-2008, production of electric power increased and comprised 45mln KW-hour in November, 55mln KW/hour in December and 50mln KW/hour in January and 49mln KW/jour in February.

By the decree of the Azerbaijani President, Azerenerji constructed and put into operation 52 modular units in Baku, Nakhchivan, Astara, Khachmaz and Sheki regions. They are operating consumable natural gas which consists of energy modules each capable of 8.7 MW. The contractor of the construction is Finnish company Wartsila.

Construction of the power stations will enable growth in power production in Azerbaijan by 450-460 МW.
