Azerbaijan, Baku, 22 April / Trend corr S. Aliyev/ Azerbaijan has commenced pumping of gas to an underground gas storages in order to use it in next autumn and winter, the Government reported on 22 April.
A total of 1bln cu m of gas will be pumped into the gas storages. Presently, Azerbaijan's underground gas storages contain some 300mln cu m of gas.
Last year over 1bln cu m of gas was pumped into the gas storages and then supplied to the subscribers in the autumn of 2007 and winter of 2008. In the previous period (2006-2007), volume of the gas preserved in gas storages comprised 1.024bln cu m.
There are two underground gas storages in Azerbaijan - Garadag and Kalmaz.
