Azerbaijan, Baku, July 6 / Trend /

To start the transport of Azeri gas to Russia, it needs to conduct an inspection on the Azerbaijani section of the pipeline from Baku to the border with Russia, a source in Azerbaijan's oil and gas industry said on July 6.

"No problems in the supply of gas by pipeline are expected. But after stopping the gas imports from Russia since the beginning of 2007, it is necessary to hold an inspection of the pipeline," - said the source.

By the beginning of 2007, up to 4.5 billion cubic meters of Russian gas were delivered to Azerbaijan via this pipeline. The design capacity of the pipeline is 10 billion cubic meters of gas per year, but now it is about five billion.

According to the source, the volume of deliveries of Azerbaijani gas to Russia may vary depending on the season. That is, with increasing consumption in the southern regions of Russia (autumn-winter), they may be greater than the spring-summer.

By the end of the year, works will be carried out on the gas pipeline connecting Azerbaijan and Russia, Kazi-Mammad- Mozdok for its operation in reverse regime.
