Fergana refinery to upgrade waste system until 2012

The National Holding Company (NHC) Uzbekneftegaz will undertake a project to upgrade waste management systems cost $ 20 million in the Fergana refinery in 2011, a source in the company's management said.

The project envisages the establishment of processing facilities for up to seven tons of sludge per year. The project will bring the oil content in waste water to a level not more than 20 mg / l, air impurities - no more than 25 mg / l, as well as receive complementary products - withheld oil. The project will be funded by the company's own funds. Project implementation period is one year.

The Ferghana refinery was commissioned in 1959 and produces about 60 kinds of petroleum products. The design capacity is 5.5 million tons of oil a year.

The Japanese Mitsui and Toyo Engineering carried out the reconstruction project at the refinery  cost about $ 200 million at the expense of loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development In 1999.

Uzbekistan has three oil and gas condensate processing refineries: Bukhara, Fergana and Altiarskoe.

Uzbekneftegaz is the Uzbek oil and gas industry monopoly operator. It was established in 1998 and brings together six joint stock companies.

In 2009, Uzbekneftegaz reduced oil and gas condensate production by 7.4 percent to 4.455 million tons compared to 2008, including gas condensate by 5.4 percent to 2.124 million tons and oil by 9 percent to 2.331 million tons.

Gasoline production increased by 10.8 per cent - to 1.622 million tons, kerosene - by 12.2 percent, to 405,700 tons, diesel fuel - by 1.2 percent, to 1,302 million tons.

Production of fuel oil fell by 7.6 percent - to 498,600 tons, liquefied hydrocarbon gas - by 0,7 percent to 246,100 tons, bitumen - by 8.6 percent, to 240,600 tons.
