Kazakhstan can raise natural gas prices for Kyrgyzstan from January 2012, Kyrgyzgaz Deputy Director General Eugene Orlenko said at a press conference on Wednesday, Kyrtag reported.

"Kaztrangas [Kazakh National Company on gas transportation] can increase natural gas price for Kyrgyzstan starting from next year. Kazakhstan has not informed about prices to be set next year," Orlenko said.

"However, we think that the price will not rise sharply. Most likely, prices will rise slightly," Orlenko added.

Gas export prices in Kazakhstan are fixed by the government.

According to the agreement between two countries, Kazakhstan is supplying gas to Kyrgyzstan at $195 per thousand cubic meters. This price will remain valid until the end of 2011.
