Libya and Turkey discussed oil and gas cooperation in Tripoli yesterday, the Libyan National oil Company said on its official website on Thursday.

Deputy Undersecretary of the Energy and Natural Resources Ministry of Turkey Sefa Sadik Aytekin and a delegation of the Energy Ministry and oil companies represented Turkey during the negotiations.

The meeting addressed creating a joint Libyan-Turkish enterprise on drilling and well servicing and Libyan oil supplies to Turkey.

"The Turkish oil refineries are mostly operating on oil imported from Iran. Against the background of instability in the region, Turkey intends to diversify its oil sources in the country, and Libyan oil is focus of Turkey's attention," Aytekin said adding that the two sides also discussed Libyan gas supply to Turkey.
