SOCAR supplies Azerbaijani regions with gas

In the near future, the Azerigaz Production Association of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) plans to start gas supplies to a number of settlements in the Masalli and Lankaran regions of Azerbaijan (235 and 270 kilometres from Baku, respectively), the Production Association told Trend on Tuesday.

In the near future, the Azerigaz Production Association of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) plans to start gas supplies to a number of settlements in the Masalli and Lankaran regions of Azerbaijan (235 and 270 kilometres from Baku, respectively), the Production Association told Trend on Tuesday.

At present, SOCAR is actively working to improve the level of gasification in Azerbaijan. In particular, the level in the country is projected to reach 95 per cent in 2013.

To realise the set plans, the Azerigaz Production Association which deals with gas transportation and distribution in Azerbaijan is working to improve the level of gas supply throughout the country.

According to the report, the relevant work has been done on the gasification of several villages and connection of new subscribers within improvements with the gas provision level in the Masalli and Lankaran regions.

"Much work has been done. As a result, the gas supply to a significant number of subscribers who live in these regions of the country will start in the near future," a source in Production Association said.

As of Sept.1, the number of gas users in Azerbaijan was 1.429 million. Some 1.411 of the total number of subscribers accounts for a population group and 17,533 other subscribers.

Some 645,264 of the total number of gas customers account for Baku (635,884 - population), 783,993 subscribers (775,840 - population) in other regions of the country.
