Azerbaijani company intends to invest in Libyan oil industry

Azerbaijani company AzMeCo intends to invest in the construction and development of petrochemical and oil refining plants in Libya, Chairman of the company’s Board of Directors Nizami Piriyev said at a meeting with Libyan Oil Minister Abdulbari Al Arusi, the Libyan National Oil Company’s official website reported on Wednesday.

Azerbaijani company AzMeCo intends to invest in the construction and development of petrochemical and oil refining plants in Libya, Chairman of the company's Board of Directors Nizami Piriyev said at a meeting with Libyan Oil Minister Abdulbari Al Arusi, the Libyan National Oil Company's official website reported on Wednesday.

According to the report, Piriyev expressed the interest of his company in the activity in the oil and gas sphere in Libya, in particular, in the development of various projects with Libyan companies.

In his turn, the Libyan minister welcomed AzMeCo's desire to operate in the country.

"We will be glad to see Azerbaijani companies' interest in petrochemical sector of Libya," he said.

Al Arusi called on Azerbaijani companies to take part in the country's tenders held in various sectors of economy, particularly, in the oil industry sector of Libya.

AzMeCo was founded in November 2007. Besides its portfolio of international hydrocarbon projects in the Caspian Sea basin, the company has developed a master plan for investments in the non-oil sector of Azerbaijan. The company has constructed a methanol plant, which is only one in the South Caucasus and Central Asia.
