Turkey increases solid fuel imports

In the fourth quarter of 2012, Turkey imported 25.5 million tons of solid fuel, or 0.8 percent more than in the third quarter of the same year, according to a report released by the Statistics Institute of Turkey on Thursday.

In the fourth quarter of 2012, Turkey imported 25.5 million tons of solid fuel, or 0.8 percent more than in the third quarter of the same year, according to a report released by the Statistics Institute of Turkey on Thursday.

According to the report, Turkey imported 8.4 million tons of coal, 15.1 million tons of brown coal and 1.2 million tons of coal coke in the fourth quarter.

During the reporting period, Turkey reduced the production of solid fuel by 0.5 percent compared to the third quarter of 2012. In the fourth quarter production of solid fuel totaled 17.5 million tons.

Turkey produced 566,000 tons of coal, 15.5 million tons of brown coal and 1.1 million tons of coal coke during the reporting period.

According to the report, Turkey exported 7,200 tons of coal and 48,000 tons of brown coal in the fourth quarter.
