Baku, Azerbaijan, Oct. 22
By Maksim Tsurkov - Trend:

The Dede Gorgud floating semi-submersible drilling rig, which is currently at the Baku Shipyard, has been modernized in Azerbaijan, a source on the oil and gas market told Trend Oct. 22.

The source said that all repair operations have been completed successfully and the test trials have been conducted.

"The rig is fully ready for using," the source said. "The whole process of upgrading has been completed. The test trials were successful. However, the contract with BP has not been signed. This allows to deal with small-scale work and not to tow the platform to the sea."

The source said that the contract between the Caspian Drilling Company and BP would be signed in the near future.

"The contract price is being negotiated," the source said. "Perhaps, the terms of the contract will differ from the previous one."

Caspian Drilling Company (92.44-percent share is owned by SOCAR) is the operator of Dede Gorgud floating semisubmersible drilling rig.
