Azneft, a production unit of Azerbaijan's state oil company SOCAR, extracted 1.03 million tons of oil in January-February 2016, exceeding the planned level by 0.3 percent, Trend learned from Azneft March 16.
Azneft also produced 917.14 million cubic meters of gas during the same period, which exceeds the planned level by 3 percent.
"Twenty-seven inactive wells were brought back to operation in January-February, making it possible to produce additional 4,000 tons of oil, which exceeds forecasts by more than six times," said Azneft.
SOCAR's production unit also carried out 114 geological operations, which allowed additionally producing 7,300 tons of oil. The technical work carried out by Azneft resulted in the additional production of 7,700 tons of oil.
Azneft also said it expanded the drilling works. Nine wells were drilled and commissioned in February 2016 in accordance with an order from Azneft.
Some 3,700 tons of oil was extracted from those wells.
