Volume of gas in Azerbaijan’s underground storages exceeds 2 bcm

Azerbaijan’s state oil company SOCAR has injected about 382.44 million cubic meters of gas into the country’s underground gas storage facilities since the beginning of the gas pumping season, a source in SOCAR told Trend Aug. 2.

There are two underground gas storage facilities – Kalmaz and Garadagh – in Azerbaijan.

The source said that 636.35 million cubic meters of the total volume of gas injected into the gas storage facilities accounted for Garadagh storage, and 553.3 million cubic meters – for Kalmaz storage.

“Currently, the volume of active gas in the country’s underground gas storage facilities exceeds 2.1 billion cubic meters, 1.12 billion cubic meters of which accounts for Garadagh, and 1.06 billion cubic meters – for Kalmaz gas storage,” added the source.

Capacity of Azerbaijan’s underground gas storage facilities allow to store more than 3.5 billion cubic meters of gas.
