Kazakhstan ready to supply up to 2M tons of oil to Uzbekistan annually

Kazakhstan is ready to supply oil to Uzbekistan from its own resources through the Kenkiyak-Kumkol oil pipeline and further with transshipment to the railway tank at the Shagyr station, Trend reports via Uzbek media.

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, ratified an intergovernmental agreement with Uzbekistan on some issues of cooperation in the energy sector.

Previously, this bill was reviewed and approved by the deputies of the Parliament of Kazakhstan.

The agreement is aimed at stimulating cooperation in the oil and gas sector, petrochemical and power industry, uninterrupted supply of natural gas to the southern regions of Kazakhstan, as well as mutual interest in developing the transit potential of the parties' gas transmission system.

The document states that the Uzbek side expresses interest in the supply of Kazakh oil in the amount of up to 2 million tons per year. The Uzbek side guarantees the timely completion of the construction of the oil transportation and refining infrastructure in Uzbekistan to ensure the receipt of the planned volumes of oil.

The agreement stipulates that the Kazakh party, prior to the commissioning of the Shymkent-Jizzak trunk oil pipeline, levies oil transportation services through the trunk pipeline with a value-added tax at a zero rate.
