Iran's Drilling International Ltd increases drilling operations

BAKU, Azerbaijan, Feb. 25

Iran's Drilling International Limited (DCI), a subsidiary of Petroiran Development Company (PEDCO) intends to use new drilling rigs to increase drilling activities, Executive Director of DCI Hamidreza Saghafi said, Trend reports referring to Iranian Shana News Agency.

Saghafi added that currently, DCI-2 and Nasr-6 rigs carry out drilling operations at Iran's Sivand field in the Persian Gulf.

About 11,000 barrels of oil is produced daily at the Sivand oil field, which is located on the territory of Iranian Offshore Oil Company (IOOC).

The executive director said that drilling works and development of four wells on the Isfand field are on the agenda. At present, 60,000 barrels of oil are produced daily at the IOOC's Isfand oil field.

Furthermore, Drilling International Limited is ready to carry out drilling work to develop the Siri field of the Pars Oil and Gas Company, Saghafi said.

The DCI was established in 2009 to provide drilling equipment and drilling works for offshore operations.

In general, Iran has 125 oil fields and 59 gas fields. The country’s total hydrocarbon reserves are estimated at 836 billion barrels. Using modern technological equipment, it is possible to extract 239 billion barrels of this volume.
