Iran's North Yaran oil field’s production potential grow

The oil production potential of North Yaran joint oil field of Iran and Iraq (this field is called Majnoon field in Iraq) has increased with the installation of a sucker rod pump SRP in well No. 14 of the field, the North Yaran oilfield development project manager Mohammad-Ali Ajdari told Shana news agency, Trend reports.

Ajdari emphasized that the pump installed last month underwent certain tests and activities of it were approved. Thus, the pump produces 750 barrels of oil per day.

Ajdari added that the production from the North Yaran oil field has increased by minimum 500 barrels per day with using of this pump that was produced domestically.

Iran's Yaran oil field consists of two parts, North Yaran and South Yaran. It is forecast that Iran's Yaran oil field contains about 1.55 billion barrels of crude oil. It is possible to extract about 100 million barrels of it. At present, the field produces 15,000 barrels of oil per day.

On July 11, a contract was signed to increase production at Iran's Yaran oil field. Under the contract, the field will produce 39.5 million barrels of oil over 10 years.
