Iran to boosts gas production

It is forecasted that gas production in Iran will increase to daily 800 million cubic meters in this winter, Deputy Oil Minister and Managing Director of the National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC), Hassan Montazer Torbati said, Trend reports referring to the Shana news agency.

Montazer Torbati stressed that Iran’s gas production reached to daily 700 million cubic meters this summer.

The director added that according to the statistics, gas consumption in Iran is on average of 4 times more than in world consumption.

“It is also forecasted that gas consumption in Iran’s housing and trade sectors will reach 500 million cubic meters per day in the cold months of the current Iranian year,” he said.

The deputy minister noted that certain changes are envisaged to carry out in the boiler rooms in order to reduce gas consumption in Iran. The operations to be carried out in these boiler rooms will not any cost for the subscribers.

According to Montazer Torbati, gas consumption in Iran will decrease by about 10 percent with carrying out certain operations in the boiler rooms of housing and commercial facilities. A total of 60 trillion rials (about $1.43 billion) is envisaged to provide for the implementation of the plan prepared for this regard. These funds will be provided at the expense of the National Iranian Gas Company.
