By Elnur Baghishov – Trend:

Iran's South Pars Gas Company (SPGC) transported about 81 million barrels of gas condensate to related companies for processing during the first six months of the current Iranian year (from March 20 through September 21, 2020), said Ali Ahmadi,‎ the Head of Coordination and Monitoring of South Pars Gas Company, Trend reports citing National Iranian Gas Company’s website.

According to Ahmadi, despite the overhaul of many refineries of the South Pars Gas Company, it was possible to transport this volume of gas condensate to the relevant companies during the reporting period.

He added that about 60 million barrels of gas condensate were transported to Iran's Persian Gulf Star Oil Company within six months.

The official noted that about 21 million barrels of gas condensate were also transported to Nouri Petrochemical Company.

Ahmadi stressed that about 18 million barrels of gas condensate were produced at the 9th refinery of the South Pars Gas Company in six months, which is accounted for the largest share in total production during the reporting period.

The South Pars gas field is a joint gas field of Iran and Qatar. The proven reserves of the South Pars Gas Field are estimated at 51 trillion cubic meters of gas, of which 36 trillion are extractable. Iran has so far spent $33 billion on projects of the South Pars gas field. Around 75 percent of Iran's gas is supplied by this field.

Iran extracted 570 million cubic meters of gas per day from this field in the last Iranian year (from March 21, 2019 to March 20, 2020).

A total of 13 plants are planned to launch in connection with the South Pars gas field. So far, 12 plants have been launched. These plants are operating under auspices of Iran’s South Pars Gas Company (SPGC).
