Uzbekistan’s 2020 volume of electricity production up

Uzbekistan increased electricity generation in 2020 by 2.98 percent compared to the same period in 2019, Trend reports referring to the State Statistics Committee of Uzbekistan.

According to the committee, the country's enterprises generated about 64.63 billion kWh of electricity for the reporting period.

Furthermore, Uzbekistan produced about 27.7 million Gcal of heat from January through November 2020, which is 12.25 percent more compared to 2019.

Earlier it was reported that Uzbekistan increased electricity generation from January through November 2020 by 3.53 percent compared to the same period in 2019.

According to the committee, the country's enterprises generated about 57.49 billion kWh of electricity for the reporting period.

Uzbekistan produced about 23.84 million Gcal of heat from January through November 2020, which is 3.48 percent more compared to the same period in 2019.

According to the information, Uzbekistan intends to increase the share of renewable energy sources (RES) in the total volume of electricity production to 25 percent by 2030.

It is planned to build solar power plants with a total capacity of 5,000 MW and wind farms with a total capacity of 3,000 MW over the next 10 years. To this end, the Ministry of Energy, with the assistance of the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank (ADB), and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), is currently carrying out a set of measures for the competitive selection of investors for the implementation of these projects, which will be implemented through foreign direct investment
