Solar panel stations launched in Iran

Two solar panel stations, each capacity of 1 megawatt-hour were launched in Isfahan Province (central Iran) today on Apr. 20, Trend reports citing Ministry of Energy of Iran.

According to the report, solar panel stations worth 160 billion rials (about $3.8 million) have been installed, backed with investments of private sector and the generated electricity will be purchased by the state.

The launch of these stations will generate 3.5 million kilowatt-hours of electricity per year and save about 1 million cubic meters of natural gas per year.

Also, consumption of 770 liters of water will be saved and the spread of 2,400 tons of pollutants will be prevented annually with the launch of these stations.

The electricity generation capacity of alternative renewable energy power plants in Iran's Isfahan Province is currently 28.9 megawatt-hours. About 15.4 megawatt-hours of it accounts for solar panels, 2.8 megawatt-hours for small hydropower plants, 0.66 megawatt-hours for wind power plants.

On Apr. 20, a number of water and electricity facilities worth 1.75 trillion rials (about $41.6 million) were put into operation in Iran. Iranian Energy Minister Reza Ardakanian and other officials attended the event dedicated launch of these facilities.
