Turkmenistan eyes increasing exports of natural gas to China

Turkmenistan plans to increase the export of natural gas to China up to 65 billion cubic meters per year, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said, Trend reports referring to Business Turkmenistan.

On August 23, the President of Turkmenistan, during a working trip to the Mary region, visited the Galkynysh gas field, where he launched the construction of new wells.

During his speech at the ceremony, the head of state noted that bilateral cooperation between Turkmenistan and China has an impressive potential in various fields, the implementation of which meets not only mutual interests but also the development goals of the entire Central Asian region.

The President noted that currently 40 billion cubic meters of Turkmen ‘blue fuel’ are supplied to China annually, and in accordance with the signed agreement, it is planned to supply 65 billion cubic meters of gas, stressing that this is not the limit. The Turkmen leader added that in the future, the volume of natural gas exported to China will reach 100 billion cubic meters.

The Galkynysh field is one of the raw material sources of the Turkmenistan-China gas pipeline. At the moment, there are 45 wells in the operating fund of the field, the area of ​​which is more than 4,000 square kilometers, the flow rate of each of them, on average, is equal to two million cubic meters of natural gas per day.

Upon completion of the construction of new wells at the field, it is expected that the flow rate of each of them, on average, will be equal to three million cubic meters of gas per day.
