Iran boosts oil exports to Georgia

BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 5. Georgia’s petroleum and petroleum oils imports from Iran from January through February 2022 amounted to $312,210, which is an increase of 302.1 percent, compared to the same period of 2021 ($77,640), Trend reports via the National Statistics Office (Geostat).

However, Georgia’s imports of petroleum and petroleum oils from Iran in February 2022 alone decreased by 30.7 percent, compared to January 2022 ($184,450), and totaled $127,770.

Thus, Iran ranked 16 among main petroleum and petroleum oils exporters to Georgia from January through February 2022. Meanwhile, Romania ($41.7 million), Bulgaria ($28.8 million), and Azerbaijan ($27.4 million) topped the list.

Meanwhile, Georgia’s total imports of petroleum and petroleum oils from January through February 2022 increased by 94.4 percent, compared to the same period of 2021 ($83.6 million), and totaled $162.6 million.

Georgia’s imports in the reporting period of 2022 totaled $1.7 billion – an increase of 47 percent, compared to $1.1 billion from January through February 2021, and 30.7 percent, compared to the period of 2020 ($1.3 billion).
