Iran, Kazakhstan eye to conduct discussions on development of oil fields

BAKU, Azerbaijan, May 23. Iran and Kazakhstan’s experts will discuss ways to cooperate in the development of heavy oil fields, oil and gas swaps, as well as technical and engineering services in the oil-gas sector in the coming days, Iranian Deputy Oil Minister and the CEO of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC), Mohsen Khojasteh Mehr told Shana News Agency, Trend reports.

He made the remark after a meeting with Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Trade and Integration Bakhyt Sultanov in Tehran on May 22, 2022.

According to Khojasteh Mehr, the discussions between the two countries' experts will result in the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between Iran and Kazakhstan. The memorandum is expected to be signed in the near future during the visit of Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Iran.

The deputy minister also noted that Iran and Kazakhstan have the potential for cooperation in the energy sector, and Iran intends to use this potential.

“At present, there is good cooperation between the two countries in the field of transport and agriculture,” the CEO added.
