BAKU, Azerbaijan, June 20. As many as 19 types of the spare parts most commonly used on platforms in Iran-Qatar joint South Pars gas field (called North Dome in Qatar) will be produced domestically by September 23, 2022, an official of Iran’s Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC) Ghasem Pourzitani said, Trend reports citing the company’s website.

The official stressed that this will prevent 45 billion rials (about $1.07 million) from leaving the country.

Pourzitani added that the mentioned spare parts will be produced with the help of local startup companies.

“Meanwhile, in the last Iranian year (March 21, 2021 through March 20, 2022), a number of steps were also taken within 9 projects related to the domestic production of spare parts for gas platforms at the South Pars field,” he said.

Pourzitani noted that as a result, a number of spare parts were produced domestically, and about 27 billion rials (about $643,000) has been spent in this regard. The domestic production of the mentioned equipment and spare parts saved 61 billion rials (about $1.45 million).

The South Pars gas field (called North Dome in Qatar) is a joint gas field of Iran and Qatar. The proven reserves of the South Pars Gas Field are estimated at 51 trillion cubic meters of gas, of which 36 trillion are extractable. Iran's share in the field is 14 trillion cubic meters of gas and 18 billion barrels of gas condensate.
