BAKU, Azerbaijan, January 15. Gasoline consumption in Iran has averaged 104 million liters per day, since the beginning of the 10th month of the current Iranian year (December 22, 2022), Iranian Deputy Oil Minister and the CEO of the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC) Jalil Salari told Shana News Agency, Trend reports.

The deputy minister noted that despite the onset of winter, gasoline consumption in Iran has increased instead of decreasing.

Salari added that a part of the increase in gasoline is due to the use of new cars in the transport sector, which have high consumption.

“In addition, a lot of intercity travel also increases gasoline consumption. In recent days, despite the suspension of government offices in some cities and the lack of gas in the northern regions, the number of people going to these regions is still increasing,” he said.

According to the CEO, some houses in the northern regions of the country consume electricity to the maximum level due to gas shortage, which increases the activity of thermal power plants.

“Since the beginning of the 10th month, an average of 74 million liters of liquid fuel has been transported to Iran's thermal power power. At the same time, the liquid fuel available in the storages was used by thermal power plants. Thus, an average of 120 million liters of liquid fuel was used daily in TPPs,” Salari also pointed out.
