The gas from Shah-Deniz will be also purchased by Azerbaijan. The Shah-Deniz partners have already signed the buy-and-sale contract with all three countries. But Georgia came out with the initiative to buy additional volumes of gas.

В"The inter-governmental working group for studying opportunities on sale of large volumes of gas to Georgia has been set up. Any agreement on such sales is to be made between the governments of the both states, Georg Gundersen said.

By the end of 2005 Statoil invested totally $2288,9 million into the Azerbaijan economy within the oil and gas projects since the commencement of its operations in the country in 1992.
