Oil&Gas Materials 15 January 2007 20:03 (UTC +04:00)

Some 185 bln.cu.m of gas has been sanctioned to be produced from Shahdaniz Field and 300 mln. barrels of gas condensate within Stage 1 of Shahdaniz Project. The peak production within Stage 1 of the project will reach 8.7 bln. cu.m of gas per year. The capital expenses on the project has reached $4 bln, Trend reports quoting a presentation being placed on the official BP website, which is the technical operator of certain oil and gas projects in Azerbaijan.

The Company has already resumed gas production from the field. Notably some problems and deficiencies emerged earlier on the field. However they have been eliminated and production on the field has resumed.

A gas escape has been recently found at a depth of 800-900 meters on the first pre-drilling well on Shahdaniz Field resulting in suspending the gas production.

In the middle of February, 2007, the Company intends to launch the second pre-drilling well. At present, work on the well is underway. The gas production from the first well was launched on 15 December, 2006. The daily gas production rate was 5.6 mln cu.m of gas and 2,500 tons of gas condensate.

Some 8.6 bln. cu.m of gas is expected to be produced within Stage 1 of the development of Shahdaniz field. Some 5.4-5.6 bln. cu.m is expected to be produced from the field in 2007.
