By Fakhri Vakilov - Trend:
Uzbekistan's gross foreign exchange reserves totaled $27.7 billion as of August 1, which is $14 million less than by the end of 1H2019, Trend reports citing statistics released by the Central Bank of Uzbekistan.
Of these, assets in foreign currency amounted to $12.28 billion (+$820 million for July), and monetary gold amounted to $15.08 billion (-$830 million for July).
Earlier, Trend reported that Uzbekistan intends to buy US treasury bills and debt obligations of other countries, including China, to reduce the share of gold in foreign exchange reserves.
The share of gold in foreign exchange reserves in Uzbekistan is about 50 percent.
Uzbekistan accumulates all the gold mined, so in recent years, reserves have been increasing.
Central Bank reported that, as of June 1, foreign exchange reserves amounted to $ 25.8 billion (decrease by $557 million from the beginning of the year).
