Turkmenistan's GDP expected to grow by end of this year

BAKU, Azerbaijan, September 21

Turkmenistan's GDP will increase by 5.8 percent by the end of 2020, Trend reports with reference to Turkmenistan’s State News Agency.

According to estimates, the share of industry in GDP's growth will be 27.1 percent, agriculture-11.4 percent, construction-8.6 percent, transport and communication sector-11 percent, trade-19.3 percent, services-22.6 percent.

According to forecasts, the volume of investment in Turkmenistan's national economic sector from all sources of financing will amount to 19.4 percent in relation to GDP.

In 2021, significant amounts of financial investments will be used for the development of education, health, social security, housing and communal services, and the system of public services. Meanwhile, investments are envisaged in the industrial and socio-cultural spheres.

Thus, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov ordered to provide funds for increasing wages, pensions, state benefits, scholarships for students, and trainees, as well as for some other social benefits in 2021.

As reported, Turkmenistan's GDP increased by 5.7 percent from January through July, compared to the same period last year.

The volume of retail trade turnover increased by 19.3 percent in the reporting period compared to the corresponding period of 2019, and the average monthly wage increased by 10.5 percent at large and medium-sized enterprises.
