The average monthly nominal salary of employees in Baku increased by 14.1 percent from January through August of 2020, compared to the corresponding period in 2019 and amounted to 938.4 manat ($551.9), Trend reports, citing the Baku City Statistics Department.
According to the data, from January through September of 2020, the volume of paid services to the population in real terms decreased by 29.1 percent compared to the corresponding period of 2019 and amounted to 2.87 billion manat ($1.7 billion).
In the reporting period, legal entities provided services to the population for 1.76 billion manat (over $1 billion), which accounted for 61.4 percent of the total cost of services
As reported, from January through July 2020, the average monthly nominal salary of employees in Baku increased by 15.7 percent compared to the corresponding period in 2019 and amounted to 948.5 manat ($557,941).
As a result of comprehensive social reforms implemented on the basis of the relevant instructions of the President of Azerbaijan, the minimum wage in the country was raised to 250 manat ($147.06), which significantly affected the salaries of civil servants, employees of a number of budget institutions, enterprises, and organizations, and state oil companies.
