Azerbaijan notes growth in lending to energy, chemistry, natural resources sectors

The volume of lending to the energy, chemistry, and natural resources sector in Azerbaijan by early July 2021 amounted to 748.5 million manat ($440.3 million), which is 33.1 percent more compared to the same period of 2020, Trend reports citing the statistical report of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan (CBA).

As reported, 10 million manat ($5.88 million), or 2.1 percent, accounted for short-term loans. Of these, about 2.2 million manat ($1.29 million) were issued in national currency, 7.8 million manat ($4.58 million) in foreign currency.

Long-term loans accounted for 456.2 million manat ($268.3 million), or 97.9 percent. Loans in the national currency were issued in the amount of 1.3 million manat ($764,700), and in foreign currency - 454.9 million manat ($267.5 million), the report said.

According to the CBA report, the main share of all lending operations carried out in the energy, chemistry and natural resources sector fell on foreign currency, amounting to 462.7 million manat ($272.1 million).

The share of lending to this sector in lending to the real sector amounted to 4.9 percent, which is one percentage point more compared to the same period in 2020.

In general, lending to the real sector of the economy of Azerbaijan for the reporting period amounted to 15.2 billion manat ($8.95 million), which is a growth of 707.4 million manat ($416.1 million), or 4.9 percent on annual basis.
