BAKU, Azerbaijan, April 25. Bank deposits of individuals in foreign currency in Azerbaijan amounted to 4.3 billion manat ($2.5 billion) in March 2022, which is 6.9 percent more than the same period last year, Trend reports with reference to the statistical report of the Central Bank of Azerbaijan Republic (CBAR).
The share of deposits of individuals in foreign currency in the total amount of deposits amounted to 42.3 percent.
According to CBAR, deposits of the population (including funds of individuals engaged in individual entrepreneurial activities) in national currency during the reporting period reached 5.9 billion manat ($3.4 billion), which is 47.9 percent more than in the same period last year.
Share of deposits of individuals in national currency amounted to 57.7 percent of total deposits of the population.
In general, bank deposits of the population in Azerbaijan (including funds of individuals engaged in individual entrepreneurship) increased by 27.3 percent in March 2022 compared to the same period last year - up to 10.3 billion manat ($6.05 billion).
The volume of bank deposits of residents amounted to 9.6 billion manat ($5.6 billion), non-residents - 722.5 million manat ($425 million) at the end of March 2022.
Deposits of residents increased by 22.6 percent, and non-residents - by 158.5 percent during the reporting period.
Deposits in Azerbaijan’s banks amounted to 30.5 billion manat ($17.9 billion) at the end of March 2022, which is 28.05 percent more than in the same period last year.
