Loans for trade sector: Iranian banks’ contribution to economic growth

BAKU, Azerbaijan, August 5. Iranian banks issued loans worth approximately 850 trillion rials (about $20.2 billion) in the country’s trade sector during the first three months of the current Iranian year (March 21 through June 21, 2023), Trend reports.

According to the report of the Central Bank of Iran (CBI), loans worth 32.2 trillion rials (about $767 million) were issued in connection with the establishment of enterprises and other opportunities in the trade sector during the reporting period.

Over the course of three months, 758 trillion rials (about $18 billion) worth of loans were issued in the trade sector as working capital.

Also, Iranian banks issued loans worth 43.3 trillion rials (about $1.03 billion) for the development of enterprises and 975 billion rials ($23.2 million) for self-employment in the trade sector for 3 months.

At the same time, 11.3 trillion rials (about $269 million) worth of loans were issued for the purchase of housing, 2.69 trillion rials (about $64 million) for the purchase of personal assets, and 1.3 trillion rials (about $31 million) for various repairs in the trade sector.

In total, the Iranian banks issued loans worth approximately 7.85 quadrillion rials (about $187 billion) in various economic sectors within the first 3 months of the current Iranian year.
